ok yes i admit i've written a blog about this before.
this is what i said in 2007 (i'd link to it on myspaz but i can't find my myspaz anymore. it's gawwwn)
happy christmas
Current mood: good
Current mood: good
leon got the xmas number one then
they had campaigns on virgin radio, radio one and facebook to get other songs to number one instead but obvs because these were three different songs *rolls eyes* *sighs* it didn't work
fucking simon cowell
grr
he really knows his audience gawd look at him he's like "kerchiiingg"
i know i know it's only a song but grrrr
mind you i didn't download anyone's song so i can't complain haha
ooooooh it's christmas hooray hope everyone who reads this has a goodun
help yourselves to mulled wine... a mince pie...
and a kiss under the mistletoe on your way out heh heh
you'll have to imagine the pics cos i'm not putting another pic of satan cowell in my blog. i think it sums up my feelings quite well though...
and i only give kisses under the mistletoe to one person these days :)
xmas number ones...
my view on xmas number ones is they should be fucking christmassy. there is one exception to this rule in my mind and that's this *has worked out how to put youtube vids in her blogger blog and is v chuffed with herself*
:) *for my boy* :)
otherwise what the hell is the point of saying "and this year's christmas number one is...."
it's not the same anymore without smash hits & topofthepops anyway *shows age* we used to care. sob. now it's like "another year another hex factor finalist"
and yes last year it was ratm. and we all went fuck you cowell we won't... like... do what you tell us... right...
which was ace and all but i think they've covered their bases well this year. they've got bland matt cardie singing a contemporary already popular song and plenty of time to get to number one and stay there. ok biffy clyro are apparently going to attempt to do a ratm but i doubt it'll work. there's not enough people who care enough. and its not fucking christmassy.
remember when everyone was happy cos cliff got the xmas number one. that's the way the world should work. wheel out cliff every year with a schoolboy choir and jingle bells. actually no that sounds not good. i liked the darkness's attempt it made me laugh. but gone are the days of glam rock so no number one for them...
maybe i'm being too nostalgic & christmassy xmas number ones are a fallacy. here's a complete list (obvs via wikipedia) of the xmas number ones:
out of all of em only 13 appear to be xmas related. so i'm prob being completely unreasonable. it'd be nice if something completely un-satan cowell was at number one this year. i incl ratm in that because it was cowell backlash & therefore publicity in itself. look at the last 5 years. bastard.
i'm going to finish this with another youtube & quite poss the bestest xmas song evverrrer. and it didn't get to number one or prob anywhere but it's beautiful & ace :)
